MyoGrowth Academy –
8 week Turbo Charge Program

MyoGrowth Academy – 12-month Oral Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) Journey

Welcome to the Myogrowth Academy – a 12-month high-performance journey designed to help your child accelerate their oral health and development! Just like a high-powered car engine needs regular tune-ups to run smoothly, your child’s oral system needs the right “fuel” and “maintenance” to ensure optimal jaw and facial development.

Within the 12 month MyoGrowth Academy, your child will participate in an 8-week Turbo Charge program followed by a 10-month Maintenance program. Both the Turbo Charge and Maintenance programs use a blend of Oral Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) and select oral appliances to help children correct improper oral habits like mouth breathing, poor tongue posture, teeth grinding and teeth misalignment, boosting their overall health and self-confidence.

What does the 12-month MyoGrowth Academy involve?

Myogrowth Academy is designed like a racecar journey — tailored, efficient, involving several pit-stops (check-ins) with our experienced practitioners, aimed at setting your child up for long-term success. Each pit stop targets specific milestones, just like a racecar goes through different gears, each pit-stop builds on the last with further fine tuning.
Book an appointment for your child today to learn more about the MyoGrowth Academy. By the end of the 12 months your child’s “engine” will be running at full capacity, ready to take on challenges with a healthier, more functional mouth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my child a candidate for The MyoGrowth Academy?

Most children with remaining jaw growth potential are generally suitable for MyoGrowth

Academy. Since jaw development occurs more rapidly earlier in life, early intervention is

often beneficial—especially for correcting the function of orofacial muscles.

However, each child must first undergo an initial consultation with one of our dentists and

oral health therapists trained in orofacial myofunctional therapy to assess their specific

condition.

Following this, diagnostic records will be gathered to analyse the case in detail and develop

a personalised treatment plan.

These records typically include:

  • Photographs of the teeth, bite, tongue, lips, tonsils (if visible), and tongue mobility
  • Facial, smile, and posture photos
  • Videos showing your child speaking, chewing, swallowing, breathing, and general
  • function
  • 3D digital models of the teeth and bite
  • Radiographs (X-rays) to evaluate the teeth, jaws, airway, nasal passages, neck
  • posture, direction of jaw growth, and growth potential

Once the evaluation is complete, we’ll schedule a case presentation appointment to review

the proposed treatment plan in detail. A written summary will also be provided to help you

make an informed decision.

If your child is not a suitable candidate for MyoGrowth Academy, we will offer appropriate

referrals to other healthcare providers or specialists.

How much commitment is required from the patient and/or the parents for MyoGrowth Academy?

Usually the Academy is very intensive at the beginning, because the muscles would require

more exercises to improve their functions. According to research, it takes at least 2 months

to change a habit, and so we do prefer to see the patient to prescribe the exercises weekly

for about 8 weeks, or more, initially. This component is referred to as Turbo Charge. Then,

once the muscles are improving, usually then appointments reduce to once a month, on

Average.

In between each visit to see us, the patient needs to practice the exercises in their own time,

properly, about 2 to 3 times per day. It takes around 5 to 10 minutes to complete each set of

exercises. Having excellent compliance, establishing a daily routine and having supervision

from the parents are crucial factors in the outcome of the therapy.

How much commitment is required from the patient and/or parents during pre- orthodontic treatment?

Pre-orthodontic therapy typically requires a high level of commitment, especially in the initial

stages. At the beginning, treatment is more intensive as the muscles need regular exercise

to improve their function. Research shows that it takes at least two months to form a new

habit, so we generally recommend weekly appointments for the first 8 weeks or more to

closely monitor progress and adjust exercises as needed.

Between visits, patients are expected to complete their prescribed exercises at home 2 to 3

times per day. Each session takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes. Consistent practice,

developing a daily routine, and active supervision from parents are essential to achieving

successful results.

Will orofacial functions remain stable after completing The MyoGrowth Academy?

The long-term stability of orofacial function depends on the patient’s ability to maintain

healthy muscle habits. If optimal muscle function becomes a natural, ongoing part of daily

life, the results are more likely to remain stable. However, if those habits fade, occasional

maintenance exercises may be needed to prevent regression.

Think of it like going to the gym—without regular exercise, muscles can weaken, change, or

become dysfunctional over time. Consistency is key to maintaining long-term results.

What is the cost of MyoGrowth Academy?

There are no fixed fees for MyoGrowth Academy, as each patient’s needs and response to
therapy can vary significantly. Some patients may require more extensive work or take
longer to complete the active phases of MyoGrowth Academy, which can affect the overall
cost.

Because the duration and complexity are unpredictable, fees are tailored to reflect the
individual’s treatment plan and progress.

To ensure transparency and fairness, the proposed payment structure will always be
discussed in detail and provided in writing before treatment begins.

If my child completed MyoGrowth Academy, will they still need braces later?

MyoGrowth Academy focuses on improving the function of the orofacial muscles and guiding

proper jaw development while your child is still growing. This early intervention works best

when started at a younger age and when the improved habits are well maintained over time.

However, braces—or clear aligners like Invisalign—may still be needed later to straighten

adult teeth if they do not align naturally, even after pre-orthodontic treatment (through

MyoGrowth Academy).

That’s because braces are designed to move teeth, not address

muscle function or jaw development.

The main goals of MyoGrowth Academy are to reduce the need for tooth extractions (except

wisdom teeth) caused by crowding, and to help avoid jaw surgery by taking advantage of

your child’s natural growth potential. While it doesn’t always eliminate the need for future

orthodontics, it can often make treatment simpler, shorter, and less invasive.
